If you are determined to keep one or more beagles, the first thing you should do is to choose a reputable and correct breeder. There are, as it is the case with all other breeds, many backyard breeders whose activity does not meet the official breeding standard.

A true breeder should be able to give as much knowledge of the puppy to the buyer as possible, and he or she should be open about its drawbacks and possible health concerns. The breeder must have a detailed knowledge about the dog's pedigree and share it with the buyer. Also he should not shy away from naming other authorized breeders.
When you buy a puppy from a reputable breeder, you actually help to struggle against those not too reliable breeders, whose credo is nothing more than gaining fast money and to whom purity and ingenuity of the breed is the last of their worries. True breeders always give all they have to the cause of the breed that promotes their welfare and their flourishing success for life long and committed dog lovers.
If you are well set on acquiring a beagle, you must consult breeder club specialists. Breeder clubs will help you get a dog that will be just right for you. A club may request that you attend dog breeding and training courses in keeping with club traditions. And they may study you as potential buyers specialists will be persistent in learning as much as possible about you, your occupations, and your house, family, other pets including your family's attitude toward beagles in general.
